Fall Candle Decor

oh, the little things you can do to embellish your life!

my mind swirls with ideas.

Joy's Life stamp set (It's All Fall Puns)
Cricut: Stretch Your Imagination cart, page 48

I had this vanilla pillar candle just sitting in a dish of autumn potpourri, it smells wonderful but was a bit too plain for me. It needed a crafter's touch, so I added ribbons, jute string. some die cut leaves and stamping, of course!

There, just right!

Fruit Juice Bats

The other day I shared how I added a bit of fun
to the dinner table for the little ones in attendance

Today I wanted to show you my Fruit Juice-box Bats.

**As a homeschooler, I have to mention these are an easy craft for the kids to make while studying bats/nocturnal mammals. Then serve them while the kids are building a bat house...just saying! Did you know bats can eat up to 6,000 insects in a single night. yuck!

You'll need:

fruit juice boxes & black tissue paper

black cardstock or construction paper (wings)
white cardstock or construction paper (eyes & fangs)
regular hole punch (eyes)
black marker (eyes)
glue stick

Wrap the juice boxes with the tissue paper as you would wrap any gift box, attach the wings, eyes & fangs with glue and dot the eyes with a black marker.

Here's my super fast fang tutorial!

The wings can easily be hand cut but I already had my Cricut fired up so I cut a few silhouette bats from the Simply Charmed cart and clipped off their wings for my juice boxes.

The tissue paper is easy enough for little fingers to tear open so they can enjoy their juice before, during or after the meal!

Do you have fun ideas for your table settings?
leave me a link below, I would love to see them.

One Eyed Purple People Eater bags

One Eyed Purple People Eater bags.
"As Seen on Joy's Life team blog!"

I enjoy adding a bit of fun to the dinner table for the little ones in attendance.

Joy's Life stamp set (Halloween Puns),
CM circle punches for mouth, Stampin Up cardstock

These came together in no time.

I used my Cricut Craft Room software (free from Cricut.com) to select these basic shapes. I only needed two bags, but you could easily fill your cricut mat to make multiple Purple People Eaters!

cuts from Cricut Craft Room
free basic cart

Once they were cut, they went through my Xyron sticker machine for easy attachment!
For the mouth, I used my Creative Memories circle punches, punching one circle inside the other to produce an outline. Cut the outline in half and you have two smiles.

Simple Ombre Technique - Blue Skies

Wishing you blue skies!

I had a chance to play with some water & ink the other day; the result, an 'ombre-colored' card.

Supplies used:
watercolor paper
Tim Holtz Distress ink (salty ocean)
water spritz bottle
MemoryBox dies (puffy clouds)
Memento ink (black)
Joy's Life stamp set (Pun in the Sun)

I heavily inked the upper portion of my small piece of water-color paper with the distress ink, spritzed water over the entire piece and let the color run. I blotted the droplets at the bottom of the paper and used my heat gun for a quick dry.

The cloud dies were cut, the sentiment stamped and the ombre piece was attached with foam tape for dimension. I did sponge a little extra ink on the very top of the piece to add a bit more variation.

Done.
(in 20 minutes)

Be sure to follow the Joy's Life team blog for more ombre inspiration all this week.
